On 11-13 December 2012, the Science and Partnership Advisory Committee of the Livestock and Fish CGIAR Research Program held its inaugural meeting in Nairobi.
First on the agenda was a meeting with management teams of ILRI and the Livestock and Fish program. Program component leaders provided updates on each component, including the rationale of the component, a description of the intended outcomes and outputs, priorities and gaps. Members were briefed on the emerging development partnership strategy of the program.
Immediate priorities identified for the advisory committee include: reviewing component strategies and log frames; advising on the monitoring and evaluation framework and evaluation of the proposed Intermediate Development Outcomes for the program.
The meeting coincided with the 5th program planning and management committee (PPMC) meeting to allow the advisory committee, program management and the leadership team the opportunity to discuss the role of the advisory committee and begin interacting on the initial directions being taken by the program. The advisory committee will submit a report to the ILRI director general of their initial observations and recommendations.
The committee is expected to meet twice a year.
