At the 5th CGIAR Fund Council Meeting held on 6-8 July 2011 in Washington, DC, the Fund Council approved the CGIAR Research Program (CRP) proposal, More meat, milk and fish by and for the poor (CRP 3.7).

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is the lead centre for this research program. The research program will be implemented in collaboration with three CGIAR centres — the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the WorldFish Center — and various national, regional and international partners.

Following the approval of the proposal, the various research teams are preparing to implement the proposal by translating it into a performance matrix of detailed operational arrangements, budgets and work plans for 2012-14.
